Scale/gauge: 16mm scale, 32mm gauge
Motive power: Live steam

The layout is owned by Huddersfield Railway Modellers and is part of our larger ‘Nant Mawr Light Railway’. The entire layout is kept permanently erected in our clubrooms on the outskirts of Huddersfield. Portmadoc is built to a scale of 16mm to the foot, using 32mm gauge track to represent a real life 2ft gauge track. All track and points are handbuilt, points are mostly operated by tortoise point motors. The station and cob are based on Harbour Station as it was in 1963. The layout also features a small slate yard and a cameo of the old Boston Lodge engine shed.

Rolling stock wise, expect to see FfR models as well as other narrow gauge models, some Welsh Highland and Talyllyn amongst them.

Look out for a number of musical references on the layout and a small tribute to our friend Geoff Munday.
