The layout portrays a G Scale garden layout built on raised brick walls in a typical urban garden. The layout is owned by BGRS and the rolling stock is owned by members of the society. The layout is modular in construction and can be configured to suit the space available at the venue. It depicts a typical European electric light railway that runs through the streets and then sets off across the
countryside to serve surrounding villages.
Not all sections of the railway would be equipped with overhead wire, so steam and diesel traction bring trains in from the unelectrified outlying areas. A particular country or theme can be depicted by careful selection of the rolling stock used on the layout. We think it is the only G Scale exhibition layout with overhead wire and we have not seen live steam running under overhead wire on any other exhibition layout.
